One night. One stage. One of the world's biggest pop stars - Harry Styles makes his return to music, performing his highly anticipated 4th studio album Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally at an intimate ‘One Night Only’.
The moment the lights went down and Harry stepped onto the stage, the energy skyrocketed. The electrifying intro to ‘Aperture’ combined with tense strobe lights illuminating the arena, caused fans to erupt with excitement. Styles transformed the stage into a rave, with songs like ‘American Girls’, ‘Pop’ and ‘Dance No More’ prompting fans to react with great enthusiasm. The atmosphere was unlike any other. After intense moments of dancing and screaming, the crowd gradually wound down, appreciating Styles’ softer vocals in songs like ‘Coming Up Roses’ and ‘Paint By Numbers’, which created a deeply emotional atmosphere throughout the arena.
Ending the show with an emotional encore, the pop star took fans on a nostalgic journey through some of his most loved tracks. The atmosphere shifted from upbeat excitement to reflection as he played ‘From The Dining Table’, a song from his first studio album, that has not been played since the year 2018. He then returned to crowd favourites such as ‘Golden’, ‘As It Was’ and ‘Watermelon Sugar’, encouraging the audience to fully let loose. Ultimately, he ended the show with ‘Aperture’, performed for the second time during the show. As the crowd sang along to the lyric ‘we belong together’ the arena filled with a powerful sense of unity, perfectly capturing the message Styles hoped to convey when releasing the album.
The singer introduced a new level of performance, by bringing in incredible backing singers and a string ensemble, creating a significant upgrade to the live sound. Of course, Styles still kept key members of his band from Love On Tour, with familiar musicians like Sarah, Mitch and Pauli returning to the stage. The string ensemble particularly stood out during ‘Coming Up Roses’ adding richness to the song and the backing singers delivered powerful harmonies in ‘Season 2 Weight Loss’. Together, they elevated the performance and emphasised the emotional impact of the music.
The arena had an unreal atmosphere, especially as it was Styles’ first headline concert since 2023. However, the show had a noticeably different feeling, due to its no-phone policy. Fans entering the arena were required to put their phones into recyclable plastic pouches that blocked the camera. This was done to create a more intimate connection between Styles and the audience. It also served another purpose: supporting the Netflix film of the event which captured the full ‘One Night Only’ performance. The film was released 2 days after the concert, allowing those who attended to relive the experience and giving fans who didn’t get to attend, the opportunity to watch the show. As an alternative to phones, fans were given free disposable cameras at the entrance so they could still take photos, creating nostalgic but memorable images. Overall, the no-phone rule helped create a more intimate, intense and electrifying atmosphere throughout the arena.
Ultimately, it’s safe to say Styles delivered a truly one-of-a-kind performance. During the show, he told the audience,“This is the only time we’ll play the album like this from top to bottom”, making the experience incredibly special for those who attended. Kiss All The Time. Disco Occasionally will never be performed in that way again. However, for those who didn’t get to attend, the show being available on Netflix allows audiences everywhere to experience the performance. Harry Styles has firmly returned to the spotlight and is delivering an unforgettable comeback.
